Here is our safety and cleaning plan (so far) to start the 2020-21dance year at our facility. Of course we are open to suggestions and it is a fluid plan so it could change as the year progresses. We just want our dancers to get back to a "new normal"! They need this outlet and social activity for their physical and emotional well-being!
1) New Entrance and Exit policies to limit crowds:
*ALL dancers will ENTER the EAST Door of the FUMC Family Life Center (Off College Ave)
* ALL Dancers will EXIT the SOUTH-EAST doors of the FUMC Family Life Center. Parents may park in the South parking lot. Please meet your dancer and teacher at the door!
2) PARENTS /GUARDIANS DURING Dance Class:
*TINY KIX, PRE PETITES, and WEE PETITES Classes: ONLY 1 parent may drop off dancer in the lobby. Please wait until you see that dancer is ready for class and is not having separation anxiety. You can wait in the lobby OR in your car—make sure the teacher has a phone contact # in case there is an issue during class or your dancer needs to use the RR. THERE ARE NO CHAIRS IN THE LOBBY AND LIMITED SPACE.
*WEE KIX, MINI KIX, and JAZZ TECHNIQUE CLASSES: NO parents allowed in the class area or in lobby. Make sure the teacher has a phone contact # in case of an issue during class.
REST ROOMS ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AND ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS. PLEASE HAVE DANCER USE RR AT HOME BEFORE CLASS!
May bring water bottle with name clearly visible. The water fountains are not available.
3) CLASS SHOW-OFFS: We will be videotaping the final dance SHOW-OFFS each week/class and posting the link to a PRIVATE You Tube channel. You will be able to share with anyone you choose.
* ON special occasions, we allow parents to come in and watch the last 5 minutes of class. They will enter the SE door and will wear a mask. This will only be limited to parents picking up their child.
4) FACE MASKS will be worn by teachers/staff and all adults entering the dance room and staying in lobby. The only exception is the teacher in charge of the lesson. They may remove their mask as long as 6 feet apart from the students. STUDENTS AND FACE MASKS: The State of Texas says that masks are voluntary for under 10--(Tiny Kix, Pre Petites, Wee Petites and Wee Kix). 10 years and over need to wear masks while transitioning to class, using RR, taking breaks, etc. They do not have to wear while dancing but must maintain distance between peers. (Mini Kix and Jazz Technique)
5) Dancers will be positioned at least 6 feet apart during the class while teaching. We will spread everyone out and have enough assistants to help.
6) Cleaning procedures
* Wipe handles, light switches, and surfaces touched after each class.
* Provide hand sanitizer at the entrance to the class and encourage use. Also have hand sanitizer available during class. Will use gloves if assisting or cleaning in the RR
* Spray floors with a mister and wipe with a mop at the end of each night.
7) We are requiring all parents to sign a COVID waiver form recognizing their liability for attending a face to face class. THIS IS ONLINE.
Our first concern is ALWAYS the safety and health of our dancers and staff. Nika Carter
This is the policy and protocols adopted by the Just for Kix Home Office for Fall 2020. This is a fluid situation and some policies may not apply in Texas. However...we will keep our families notified of any changes and our goal is to keep our dancers and staff safe! We are ready to dance!
We are excited to say that we have been approved to start in person dance classes again this year on Sept. 14th! This is a slight delay to the year but we are thankful to be back in our facilities at First Untied Methodist Church! We will make sure to schedule 32 classes for our normal 8 months so no worries.
We will not have our Meet the Teacher night on August 24th or have classes on August 31st or Sept 7th to allow schools to get started back healthy.
We can help you size and measure for costumes on your normal class night starting on September 14th OR YOU CAN USE THE SHOE CONVERSION CHART AND COSTUME MEASUREMENT VIDEO ON OUR JUST FOR KIX-WEATHERFORD FACEBOOK PAGE TO HELP YOU SELECT THE CORRECT SIZES. All costumes should be ordered online by Oct 1st to be here for our Christmas holiday show in December.
Please make sure you log in to your dancers account and sign the Covid waiver form BEFORE 1st class if you have not already done so. Thank you!
More info to come soon with all the details regarding safety and cleaning protocol but until then.. stay safe and cool! We can't wait to dance again!
