Hi everyone,

You have no idea how much I HATE to do this again….but, I am going to cancel all Paynesville Just For Kix classes for tonight, December 9th. My school district (Sauk Rapids-Rice) has already called an early out and canceled all after school activities; while Paynesville has not yet called it, I know surrounding districts have announced early outs for today as well. I am guessing that Paynesville school district will end up canceling after school activities at very minimum; however, they tend to make their decision later in the afternoon. With the time that I need to leave for class, I don’t want risk being enroute when they make the call.

Since all staff are driving from a ways away, and again we want to keep our teenage drivers safe, we feel the safest option is to cancel.

Again, all classes have already been made-up using mass practice hours, with the exception of Jr. Pom and Winter Teeny Kix. I will reach out to those classes separately with a plan to make up this missed class time.

Paynesville school district has cancelled all after school activities, so as our policy states, we will cancel class as well. Wee Kix does not need a make-up date; Teeny Kix and Jr. Pom will be contacted individually with make-up class information!

Due to the forecasted winter storm, we are going to hold classes tonight from 3:30-5:00pm, then cancel all classes after 5:00pm. The classes that will be held tonight are: Winter Teeny Kix (2-4 year old short term class), Wee Kix (2-3rd grade) and Jr. Pom (6-12th grade); everything else will be cancelled. This way, no classes will need to be made up as all classes after 5:00pm are covered by make-up hours that have already been built into our schedule. Please spread the word!

I know I am making this call SUPER early. There are so many factors; I leave my house to head for class at 1:30pm today, so wanted to make a plan and communicate it well before then. All staff live a good distance outside of Paynesville; I want to make sure we can all get home safely. Above all, we know that many of our teenagers start class with us as early as 5:45pm and we don’t want them driving at all with the amount of ice, snow, and wind forecasted.

This will be the plan UNLESS the school cancels after school activities….per our policy, we will follow the school district. If they cancel all after school activities, we will change our plan and cancel all classes as well to follow policy! If they make this decision after 1:30pm, I will likely not be able to send another email immediately.

The Paynesville Area Just For Kix program is for students ages 2 through 12th grade. Just for Kix is a wonderful program to help prepare dancers for the skill and technique that is needed for high school dance teams.

AT JUST FOR KIX, KIDS SHINE:

If your child's toes can't stop tapping...then Just For Kix is just the program for you. Our dance classes are the perfect way to introduce your child to the world of dance without having the high costs of other dance studios. We pride ourselves on providing a low stress, no pressure environment where young dancers can have fun while gaining relationships that will last a lifetime. At Just For Kix, we treat kids how we would want our own kids to be treated. Here, kids know they are loved and valued for who they are rather than for their dance experience and/or skill level!

TECHNIQUE and BASICS:

Basic placement and technique are a major focus. We work on creating good habits with the younger dancers. Coaches will provide the skill and technique to prepare dancers who are looking to try out for a High School Dance Team. Instruction is very hands on and focused. FLEXIBILITY and STRENGTH is focused on too! They are two key factors in becoming a great dancer; challenging dancers to advance and progress to their top potential.

CHOREOGRAPHY:

Our choreography is what built our business. It is creative, innovative, and age appropriate. Choreography teaches kick technique as well as basic dance technique in a team environment that is very visual to our audiences. Our classes are fast paced and fun. We have great music and great instructors.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

-Dancers will perform multiple times per season.

-Our older classes compete in a “low pressure” environment (4th through 12th grade kick classes; 2-12th grade jazz and hip hop classes).

-Our dancers wear one costume for each class for the year. Our costumes are tasteful and focus on age appropriate styles.

-Just For Kix prides itself on being organized. We get it done! Class time is maximized so every minute is utilized. Our goal is to have each and every class start on time and end on time.
