Halloween is always a fun time, whether you're going to be in dance class, out on the streets trick-or-treating, or at a friend's house for a party. For dancers, what's even better is that all those dance clothes you already have can easily be turned into a cute or edgy Halloween costume -- with only the addition of a few, simple accessories. That means you don't have to break the bank to come up with a great costume.

So if you're struggling to figure out what to wear for the occasion, here are 7 last-minute ideas -- using dance clothes as foundational pieces -- to help you:

Idea #1: A black cat.

This is as simple as it gets. You can take your favorite black leotard and black tights, along with a pair of black flats and use these items as the basic elements for this costume. All you have to do is make some cute kitty ears and a tail to pin on the back of your leotard, or run to the store to buy them if you're not the handy type. You don't even need to purchase any make-up. Simply use black eyeliner to draw whiskers and a kitten nose on. In just a short amount of time, you're ready to go!

Idea #2: An 80s rock star.

This costume again lends itself well to dance clothes. Instead of a black dance leotard, consider one that's colored or has a cool print on it, along with some fun and patterned tights and a pair of leg warmers to match. Or, you can go in a totally different direction and rock a cool graphic t-shirt, along with some cut-off shorts and leggings. Whatever you do end up wearing, make sure you pile on plenty of eye shadow and lipstick and also tease your hair to new heights, as high as it goes.

Idea #3: A superhero.

You can be any superhero you want to be with the right dance clothes. For this costume, use a long-sleeve leotard -- in whichever color lends itself well to the look you're going for -- and get tights to match. Then either buy or make your own cape to pin to the back of it. If you have some bright-colored boots, then now is the time to bust those out. If not, then knee-high sports socks and sneakers will do just fine. You can also make a mask by getting an old bandana and cutting two eye holes in it. If you really want to go the extra mile, you can make cuffs to go around your wrists from tin foil.

Idea #4: Princess Leia

Have a white leotard you haven't worn in a while? Then put it to good use with this Star Wars-inspired costume. All you need is a white dance skirt to match and a pair of winter boots, preferably also in white. Then get to work on those double buns on either side of your head. Just make sure you use plenty of spray so they hold up well throughout the night. It's simple, easy and always a classic that people love.

Idea #5: A ballerina.

Ok, this one isn't really even a costume; at least for you, it's not. But if you're short on time and your options are limited, being a ballerina for Halloween makes a great plan B. So grab your favorite leotard and tutu, and those ballet shoes you're not planning to wear anymore. Then pull that hair back into a tight bun and put on your stage make-up. That's all it takes and you're ready for your big Halloween party. P.S. -- It's not going to get any easier than this.

Idea #6: 20s A flapper.

Another dance-inspired costume is to be a flapper from the roaring 20s. This is a great costume if you have a lot of dance accessories you've been looking for a good excuse to wear -- think lace or sequin gloves and a headband to go around your forehead. If you have a sequin dance costume dress, then it's the perfect garment to wear under all those layers of accessories. For an added touch of flair, grab a feather boa and throw it around your shoulders and also get several strands of pearls or other costumer jewels to wear around your neck.

Idea #7: Tennis player.

This costume makes good use of your dance bra tops. Pair one of them with a matching dance skirt or a pair of athletic shorts and a sweat band. Then grab an old tennis racket and you're all set to play the part of a championship tennis player.
