The Turning C jump is a challenging and dynamic move that requires proper technique and focus. To begin, start by doing a down chasse (in plie). Keep your hips tucked in and your back straight, with your hips and shoulders in one line.
From there, take your right leg and circle it around into a back attitude. Both legs in a C jump go into a back attitude. It is important to land on one foot at a time, not both. Start with the left foot, then the right foot.
As you are jumping and turning in the air, make sure to keep your arms in the second position and look up and back. This will help you maintain proper form and balance throughout the move.
To achieve the full extension and height of the jump, think about your quads sitting on a table and reaching up and over with your legs. And remember, don’t aim your feet for the back of your head but try to get your feet in your mouth.
Incorporating the Turning C jump into your dance routine can add a dynamic and impressive element to your performance. However, it is important to practice proper technique and focus on form to execute the move safely and effectively. Check out our Brand New Leotards from the Alexandra Collection.
