Super Foods for a Super Practice

Need a Super Food Boost?

You just finished classes for the day.You have dance practice in twenty minutes.You're tired.You're hungry.What do you grab to eat that will keep your energy up for the entirety of practice?An energy bar?A sports drink?

Although those may seem like logical options, there are numerous other foods that will guarantee your body the fuel it needs to start and end practice on a high-energy note. These foods are capable of expanding energy over long periods of time due to their complexity of carbs and sugars. Simple carbs, found in fruit and numerous other foods, give your body an instant boost of energy. Complex carbs, found in nuts and bread for example, slowly and steadily release energy over time. Together, these carbs create a super food, one that will keep your body energized throughout your practice performance.

A few examples of super foods include: 

  • Trail mix
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
  • Dried cereal with dried fruit
  • An apple and peanut butter
  • A banana and chocolate milk

These foods, combined as listed, will enable your energy levels to peak repeatedly throughout practice and make crashing from hunger the last thing on your mind!
