Lets talk a little about something we do a lot Stretch.
As dancers, we sometimes underestimate the importance of stretching before and after dancing. A lot of times we just want to jump right into dancing and not spend the time stretching beforehand. Stretching after practice is something many dancers find just as monotonous. However, stretching is a seemingly insignificant thing that makes a huge difference not just in our flexibility, but also in our overall performance and health as dancers.
There are two types of stretches we use frequently as dancers.
Either type of stretching can be used before and after practice depending on the needs of each team.
Stretching after practice is just as crucial as stretching before practice. A cool down stretch after practice allows your muscles a chance to relax before your body cools down, also reducing soreness. Your body will thank you when it rolls out of bed the next day and can actually move! A little five-minute stretch could make the difference between an effective practice the next day or a sore struggle.
Long hours of practice and busy schedules make the little things seem insignificant. However, it is the little things, such as stretching, that will make a world of difference in your practices and performances. Keep calm and stretch on, dancers! Surprise yourself with the many benefits that stretching has to offer.
