DANCE STUDIO OWNERS CUSTOMER SERVICE TIPS

By: Cindy Clough - President of Just For Kix

Do your dancers and parents feel like they are special to you?  Your goal is to make every dancer feel valued.  I have heard “horror stories” regarding the treatment of kids at some studios. I think to myself…no wonder the door is wide open for the rest of us to be successful.  Most studio owners begin focusing totally on the dance side, the costumes, the music and sometimes forget an important factor….how they treat their clients.

Your job is to treat the children you serve, the way you would want your own child treated.  With respect and dignity.  Push them yes,  but also coach the total person…not just the dance aspect.

Sometimes the “front row thing” can be a detriment to your business.  Kids in the back row are paying customers too! Remember that!  How can you make them feel special?

Clients are thirsting for relationships!  Building these relationship will make your business strong.

LEARN TO LISTEN:  You can learn a lot if you listen.  Be willing to compromise and adjust decisions to parent’s wants and needs.  (You can’t always do this…but it is important to remember they are paying you, so you should care what they think.)

This is the exact hand out I gave my instructors for our local studio to improve our customer service. I hope it gives you some ideas to implement.

“The only certain means of success is to render more and better service than is expected of you, no matter what your task may be.”

“You have to do more than you get paid for because that’s where the fortune is.”

– Jim Rohn
