Hello Just For Kix Dancers & Parents!
It’s here! Our first class is Tuesday, October 2nd and I can’t wait to get started! I have some fun routines picked out for the season and we will spend lots of time (particularly at the start of the season) focused on technique, skills, strengthening and flexibility. These elements lay the groundwork for being successful in dance.
Here are a few housekeeping notes as we kick off our dance season:
TIME & PLACE
Tuesday, October 2nd = First night of class!
Location: Brunswick United Methodist Church
6122 42nd Avenue North, Crystal
Parking is in back of the church. Enter through the double doors. Head down the small flight of stairs, go left down the hallway, and down the additional stairs to the Social Hall.
*Please note, the church has asked that we keep the doors locked unless someone (a parent) is able to sit near the doors to monitor incoming traffic. If the door is locked when you arrive, please be patient – someone will be up to let you in prior to your class start. As the season progresses, we will ask parents to take turns volunteering to watch the door near class start/end times.

ETIQUETTE
Your attention to the following guidelines and policies will help ensure a smooth evening and fun and productive class. Thank you in advance!
1. With many of the classes back-to-back, dancers should wait until the previous class leaves the dance room before entering.
2. All dancers should use the bathroom before class, especially the younger children.
3. We have a “No Distraction” policy at Just For Kix. Parents are invited to wait outside of the dance room or may leave the building and come back NO LATER THAN 10 minutes prior to the end of class. At that time we will invite the parents to come in so we can show you what we learned and to hear announcements. This is to help the class run smoothly and without distractions.
a. If any dancer has anxiety over their parent not staying in the room, we will address it on an individual basis. It’s important that we find a good balance between dancers feeling secure and being able to accomplish our goals each week.
4. It is important to be on time each week. We’ve found that dancers who arrive late often have some anxiety about getting going and keeping up with the rest of the group.
ATTIRE
Dancers should come to class in any type of active dancewear, such as leotard and tights, tank top or t-shirts, spandex shorts, leggings or yoga style pants. Younger dancers may wear leotards, tights, skirts or tutus. Boys can wear athletic shorts or active wear pants and tee shirts. Long hair should be pulled back. If your child has ballet or jazz shoes, they may wear those. If not, they may wear tennis/gym shoes or just their socks until their shoes come in. The shoes ordered with their costume can be used for practices. There is no need to buy any additional shoes.
We still have plenty of room for more dancers! If you have any friends who might be interested, please encourage them to join you! Each registered dancer will receive two friend passes to invite a friend to join them at class. The passes must be used on different nights.
Please reach out if you have any questions! I look forward to dancing with you all soon!
