I was shocked at the prices and thought we can do this BETTER for LESS.” “Our teachers are fantastic and we pull from a wide pool of talent due to our summer camps.”

Package also includes a master class, 4 nights stay at the Lodge Hotel and Waterpark, 11 full meals, water park pass located in resort and much, much more!

Students can choose from 3 levels of classes: Intermediate, Advanced and Elite.

Intermediate dancers are those with a few years of dance experience and are looking to focus on basics in technique, flexibility, and form.

Dancers who register for Advanced level should have several years of dance experience and are looking to go beyond the basic elements of technique, moving into style and expression. Finally, Elite dancers are those who are looking to challenge themselves physically and emotionally through new styles, techniques and our most cutting edge choreography and training. Dancers will register for one level, but may move around based on the style of class they are taking. (For instance a dancer may be Elite in one style and intermediate in another.)

Our state of the art studio is located in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes Area in Central Minnesota. It was home to over 1,000 dancers this past year and serves as the perfect facility for a great summer intensive. Testimonials

This was our daughters 1st time coming out for the intensive dance camp and they absolutely loved it and learned so much. I received your email about the changes for next summer. In my opinion(and my daughters) there isn't one thing I would change about the camp. We drove over 7 hours to get to camp and paid for them to get the absolute most out of the camp and the girls didn't complain once about having a master class every night. As a matter of fact they said it made them feel proud and stronger that they got through it every night. Their free night was the night we got there, than they knew the rest of the week would mean business. It's only 3 and a half days and I feel that the dancers need to be challenged if they want to make the best of their dance and maybe a career in the future, Just my opinion. Anyways,we will definitely be back next summer and yes, if you had 2 intensives next summer we would most likely make both camps. The girls just loved it and got so much out of it, thanks for everything.

Michelle (crystal and marina's mom)

My daughter has been at the Intensives 2 years and plans on coming back in 2010. Each year she has a even better experience as the year before with seeing people she recognizes from the year before. We would not change a thing except to make it longer!!

Questions and Answers
Q. HOW DO I GET THERE?
A. Dancers can fly right into Brainerd and our staff will be happy to meet you. The Minneapolis airport is about 2.5 hours from Brainerd and there is limousine service that travels to Brainerd. See directions above.

Click Here to Read More... || ...Less

Q.
WHAT AGE LEVEL CAN ATTEND?
A. We typically take no one under 12. However all rules are made to be broken. We have had a few 10 year old dancers attend (required to be chaperoned). They were die hard “studio brats.” Meaning they love to eat and sleep dance and were used to a rigorous training regime. Average age is high school-college. We have 4 studios and divide dancers by level.

Q. CAN I ATTEND IF I HAVE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL?
A. Many college teams are starting to use the JFK Intensive as training for their season. Many studio owners attend as a retreat for themselves and as way to gain exposure, choreography and technique.

Q. DO I HAVE TO TAKE BALLET?
A. We can’t MAKE you take ballet, but strongly encourage you to participate in a daily ballet class while at the intensive. Our ballet teacher is wonderful. (Carlos Stroia.) He is kind and knowledgeable. Originally from Romania, he teaches classical ballet and the technique gained will make you a stronger dancer. One of our instructors (Adina Balenger) lived in New York for 2 years and likes Carlo's class better than any she took there.

Q. WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER HAD BALLET?
A. You can take the intermediate class and you will do just fine. Carlos is PATIENT and you just have to go in with a great attitude.

Q. DO YOU TEACH POINTE?
A. Currently we do not offer it a a part of the intensive but we CAN. You also could sign up for private lessons with Carols for an additional fee. He would LOVE to teach all aspects of Ballet.

Q. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT LEVEL I AM IN?
A. When you arrive we will explain the levels before each class. You may wish to vary levels depending on the styles. For instance you may be elite in ballet and intermediate at hip-hop. We want YOU to feel comfortable. Dancers are allowed to switch classes if they feel overwhelmed or not challenged.

Q. WILL I BE CHAPERONED?
A. Dancers who are still in high school will be bed checked each night. We will take attendance in the morning and periodically during the day. We will work off a buddy system. Dancers are expected to be on their best behavior and required to follow our code of conduct. Each group of dancers is encouraged to send a chaperon. If you cannot, we will assume chaperoning. JFK has chaperoned summer camps and bowl games since the early 80’s and we are known for running a tight ship. A JFK Staff member is on call each night.

Q. WHEN IS CHECK IN?
A. The intensive officially starts the morning of June 23rd.

Q. WHAT MEALS ARE INCLUDED?
A. There are 11 meals included.
June 22- no meals
June 23-3 meals
June 24- 3 meals
June 25 3 meals
June 26 -2 meals
All meals are served at the Just For Kix studio buffet style.

Q. DO I NEED TAP SHOES?
A. We offer one master tap class for advanced/elite and one for beginner/intermediate. If you wish to participate please bring tap shoes with you. We will have them available for purchase. (Let us know ahead of time so we make sure to have your size.)

Q. IF I AM COMING BY MYSELF WHOM WILL I BE ROOMED WITH?
A. We will try hard to place dancers of similar ages together if possible. All dancers are encouraged to bring a friend form their town, but we will happily place you with another individual.

Q. IF MY MOM COMES WHAT CAN SHE DO ALL DAY?
A. Brainerd is a tourist area. There is TONS to do. From 7 world class golf courses, spa’s, shopping galore, beaches, movie theaters, walking trails, and more. Our staff can direct you to the hot spots.

Q. WHAT STYLES ARE OFFERED?
A. Pilate's, hip-hop, jazz, modern, contemporary, tap, kick line, ballet, and more.
