QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: Can an individual attend camp without a team?
A: YES!! Our curriculum is geared towards teams but we try to group all individual dancers together. They meet many other dancers and have a great time
Q: What type of team can attend Just For Kix Dance Camps?
A: Any type of team or individual dancer can attend JFK. We offer such a variety, that we will meet every individual's needs. (studio's welcome)
Q: How many routines will my team learn at camp?
A: Each dancer will learn at least four full routines, plus a f"un dance". The larger the camp, the more routines offered. The larger YOUR team, the more you can divide up to maximize your learning potential.
Q: Are advisors and coaches required to attend camp?
A: Each team is encouraged to bring an adult chaperone, preferably the coach/advisor/director. We feel that the coach is the "lifeline" of the team. A team is only as strong as its leader. Coaches will benefit so much by attending and networking. They can attend at a discounted rate. We feel teams who have an adult chaperone with them during the entire camp, are much better behaved.
Q: Is there individual competition?
A: Yes! We offer a leaps, kicks, and toe-touch contest one evening of camp.T his contest showcases individuals. You will think that you are at a rock concert because the cheenrig is SO LOUD. It is a great event for dancers to cheer on their teammates. Teams can enter two dancers in each category. The same two can enter all three or you can shake it up and have different entrants in each category.
Q: What is a home routine?
A: On the first night of camp we offer a HOME ROUTINE SHOW. This is a night in which you perform a routine you have created prior to camp. It is a SHOW/COMPETITION.T he focus is n sharing your style with the othe r campers. Many times, groups that are new at camp, feel they learn a great deal from watching the other teams perform. This is optional, however we encourage everyone to take part. T(eams either wear their costumes or camp wear, such as matching t-shirts and shorts.) This event counts towards the participation reward.
Q: What is your student to instructor ratio?
A: Approximately 1:25. This varies at times.
Q: What are the camp Theme Days this year?
A: Be prepared to show your spirit at this years camp. Show usy our enthusiasm!
DAY ONE - TEAM SPIRIT DAY Show us where you are from and stand out at the camp show iny our school colors!!
DAY TWO - "IT'S A JOLLY HOLIDAY" You pick the Holiday which best represents your team and dress accordingly.
