There are as many names for your position as there are methods for running your team. There is no "RIGHT WAY" or "WRONG WAY." The title for the position varies from state to state. You must develop a game plan that is suitable to you, your school administration, and your dancers. Some coaches are VERY involved with every aspect of running their team. Other groups are STUDENT run and the coach strictly handles logistical items. Please understand your role should be an active one. Your students need your guidance, discipline, and help. The coach is the single most important element in the success of the program in your school. The most effective coaches are those who lead by getting the dancers actively involved in all aspects of running their program. The advisor is in charge....but the dancers feel ownership in their squad. Please note: Your school may have a policy that an adult
must be present at all practices. |
